Both Meat Wave's self-titled LP and last year's Brother EP were immense. This, the title track from the Chicago trio's upcoming record, is better. A howling, visceral statement that gets in and out in under two minutes, like all good punk should. That it sounds a touch more polished (that's obviously a relative term) after their move to Side One Dummy is absolutely no cause for concern, either. This is a masterclass in concentrated, pummelling tension.
I've gone from being quite interested in the new album to marking it down as an essential purchase. I'd be straight in the pit, too, if I wasn't so damn old.
Inevitably, the video is also a massive whitey. Enjoy your weekend.
