Nova Scotia's Mauno aren't the easiest bunch to define. When confronted daily by an incessant barrage of homogeneity, this is obviously  a wonderful thing.

There's a little of Grizzly Bear and a little of alt-j tucked somewhere within the folds of their songs, but mostly they're out alone, expertly reshaping pop songs into succinct little oddities.

It's fun without being cloying, experimental without being inaccessible and stuffed full of innovative ideas. 'Nothing' might be the quickest way into the world on display in their debut LP, Rough Master, but it's really a singular piece of work and should be experienced as such. I'm completely entranced by this.
