However you're feeling in the morning, there's something about old jazz records that will straighten you out and set you back on the road to becoming yourself again. When Billie Holiday sits by your side, you don't want to be anywhere else.
Dedicating an entire album to the songs of Holiday is a monstrous undertaking, but Jose James has the presence to pull it off. On the LP, he's backed up by Jason Moran on piano, who is probably my favourite modern pianist working today. Blue Note got it spot on there.
