When we last saw them, Stealing Sheep were a folk band. A slightly odd one, but a folk band nonetheless. Songs like 'Shut Eye' and 'Genevieve' updated traditional harmonies with a twisted edge that recalled luminaries such as Broadcast.

Things have changed somewhat in the interim, and from 'Not Real' we can surmise that Stealing Sheep have been listening to a lot of Kraftwerk. Gone is the reliance on traditional instruments, and in their place there's a lot of warped electronic noises.

The harmonies remain, however, and their way with a slightly unnerving pop chorus has been taken up a notch. In all honesty, this is the best thing they've ever done.
