Mew are finally delivering a follow-up to 2009's No More Stories... and have stolen what will probably be Ed Sheehan's fifth album title, + -.
Luckily, there's no more Sheehan comparisons to be found anywhere, and instead we get the same delicately bruised compositions that Mew have been delivering since Frengers. That sounds like a backhanded compliment, and in some ways it is, as I kind of feel like Glass Handed Kites will always be their best record.
Nevertheless, they've got such a distinct sound that it's always an absolute joy to listen to them. 'Water Slides' is soothing, sad and playful all at once, and the fact that the edited versions of both this and 'Satellites' are still four minutes long bodes well for a sprawling full-length.
